What a long, exhausting weekend! I don't know what's up, but Hawaii is acting like some other part of the country lately. Some wetter, cooler part of the country!
I started out Saturday morning nice and early with a nice, long workout. I knew we were heading to IHOP for breakfast/lunch and that's not good for anybody. I did the best I could. No syrup was involved. LOL I know there must have been some sugar somewhere though because I just HAD to crash after that. O.K., I know that's fascinating and all, but let's move on. ;)
The luau was Saturday evening, so we headed out there. Beautiful location, near the Ko'Olina resort and lagoons that I posted on my Facebook a few weeks ago. We got there at 5 and dinner wasn't until 7. There were activities to keep us busy until then. We made leis, got Polynesian tattoos, went on canoe rides, watched a few performances and different things. Brilliant me only last about 5 minutes until my camera battery was dead. I don't know why I didn't think to check it before we left. So I was left taking pictures on my cell phone for the rest of the night. Such great quality shots! ((eyeroll)) By the time it was time to eat it was drizzly and cold. Not the perfect setting for a luau. For the record I did NOT eat any pig! They even labeled it Kalua pig. Not Kalua pork. But pig! Nasty, nasty, nasty. Even though it looked pretty much like the pulled pork barbecue I like at home I wasn't going to eat something that was LABELED pig! We ended up leaving a little bit before the actual end because it was just no fun being out in the cold rain.
Sunday was another early morning. We had to leave for whale watching at 10 a.m. A bit warmer, but good heavens the wind was up! I enjoyed it for about the first half of the trip. The whale watching part was kind of fun. You never knew exactly where you'd see them or what they would do, but luckily when the first sightings came I was in just the right place. Once there was a sighting was kind of just hung out in that location for 30 minutes. They didn't want to stay too long or crowd the whales' space so that was their regulation. So a couple of locations and then it was turn around and go back. The turn-around-and-go-back part was not fun. Wayne and his Mom were both so sick by that time. We were all very ready once we got back and off the boat. Then because it hadn't been fun ENOUGH for Wayne we had a flat tire when we went to leave. Well, the spare tire is very well hidden on the new Town and Countrys because neither Wayne nor his Dad were able to find it for the longest time. After it was all said and done Wayne thought maybe he should have had Brent get out and help. But, you know, Brent was not really dressed for laying on the ground. Neither was Wayne to be fair because he had on a white shirt. But it does make you wonder, "What would Brent do if he was out and had to change a tire or something like that?" I guess he's just metro enough that he would have to weigh the options, "risk his outfit?" or "call AAA?" LOL
Wanna guess what we did when we came home? Crashed again! Everyone was so tired. Well except for Rhett and Jack who had so much energy left that they went out on their scooters and ripsticks and bikes. I got up from my nap with a headache, but couldn't risk my precious sleep schedule :P So I got up and did tons of laundry, some dishes and uploaded pictures from the day. One more load of laundry and I am absolutely done. I'm waiting on the outcome of The Apprentice and then I think I'm back to bed.
Ooooh, just noticed that my battery's about dead. I'll be sick if I lose my post, so I'm saving and getting outta here! Happy Monday!
Glad you all are getting to do some of the fun "tourist" stuff. It sounds like fun, but granted, not if it is windy, wet and cold.....stay well!
XOXO
